Is 2023 going to be a repeat of 2020?
There are now reports of a possible new strain of COVID that is creating massive outbreaks in China.
Over the past several months, the Chinese have detected more than 130 sublineages to the Omicron variant.
This would include one that has been tagged BF.7, which is very good at evading immunity.
Here We Go Again
Xu Wenbo, head of the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, confirmed that 50 of the new strains have created outbreaks in China.
In the first few weeks of December, China had 248 million infections, which is just under 20 percent of the population.
China has a zero-COVID policy, which it only recently changed, then the outbreaks started to happen.
I cannot help but think about how ineffective these lockdowns are proving.
Florida never locked down and while hit hard initially, the state is now humming right along.
The same can be said for Texas which followed suit not long after lockdowns started.
I am no medical expert, but this seems to be making the case that had we not locked down, perhaps natural immunity would have crushed this big already.
Keeping people hidden from it only seems to make it worse when it lands.
I could be wrong, and if I am, please tell me, but these massive outbreaks in communities that were locked down tight seem to be making my case for me.
