ICYMI – New York City is finally feeling the burden many border towns have been carrying for decades as illegal migrants flood the Big Apple. Now a New York judge has temporarily barred New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams from busing those migrants to a neighboring municipality.

It is obvious that New York City is struggling to deal with the influx of illegal immigrants. The democratic Mayor, who once bullied Border state governors for whining about the border is now trying to get rid of the same migrants he invited to the city with his sanctuary city policies.
Earlier in May, city officials sent the first batch of asylum seekers to the suburbs. The Mayors move to ship out the migrants has brought down the wrath of Republican leadership in Upstate counties.

The Hill reported that New York Supreme Court Judge Sandra Sciortino’s order, released on Tuesday, did not allow the removal of migrants who have already been pushed out of the city but stopped the city from pushing any more out into the Upstate area.
It was Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus and county Department of Social Services Commissioner Darcie Miller who had brought the case to the New York Supreme Court.
“The city is a self-proclaimed sanctuary city; Orange County is not,” Neuhaus said after the ruling. “We should not have to bear the burden of the immigration crisis that the Federal government and Mayor Adams created, and I will continue to fight for Orange County’s residents in regard to this important manner.”

Sciortino’s order states that the city must continue to pay the expenses of the existing migrants. It also allows the county to inspect the hotels housing them, as long as they provide reasonable notice, and do not interfere with site services.
As a sanctuary city, New York struggles with the mass arrival of asylum seekers. The influx started by Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott who deliberately transports migrants to sanctuary cities. The ploy was started to highlight the Biden administration’s lax approach to border enforcement and force Democrat officials to put their money where their mouth is as many have chastised border states on their handling of the armies of migrants that pass the borders daily.
