March For Life is an annual peaceful protest of the Roe V. Wade supreme court case that made abortion legal in all 50 states. For Pro-Lifers, this event is about Human Rights and the sanctity of life which garners bipartisan support.

Recently Democrats for Life of America (DFLA) a group of Democratic voters who still believe in life, scheduled a breakfast get-together for their group in support of the March for Life rally on Capitol Hill.
Unfortunately, Busboys and Poets, the restaurant that the event was to be held in canceled their reservation. This was after they had learned the group was in support of life.

Human Rights Are Apparently Worth Canceling
A Representative of Busboys and Poets told CNA in an interview that the chain “stands firmly on the belief that women have the right to make their own reproductive health decisions.”
“When our team learned the fundraising nature of the event in question, the decision was made to cancel it and refund all deposits to the event organizer,” she continued. “While we welcome conversations from individuals expressing different viewpoints and pride ourselves on being a venue for respectful conversations between diverse groups, we are also a safe space.”

“As such, we cannot knowingly accept events designed to fund an agenda which our community members believe to be trampling on the rights of others,” She added.
In a press release the executive director of DFLA, Kristen Day stated that they understood that guests of the restaurant contacted them about the nature of the event.

“Clearly, Busboys and Poets caved to pressure instead of abiding by the contract we signed,” she stated.
CNA also interviewed Ms. Day for her perspective on the situation. “Pro-life Americans should absolutely care about this cancellation, regardless of their political party,” she said.
“Abortion is a human rights issue that can’t be confined to one political party. We need bipartisan support and bipartisan efforts from conservatives, liberals, and everyone in between,” She continued.

“Americans as a whole should care about this cancellation as well,” she continued. “We as Americans want a country that’s rooted in inclusivity and diversity. Inclusivity and diversity cannot be achieved if we shun and shut out individuals or groups because of political backgrounds, beliefs, and ideals.”

Discourse is the foundation of the flow of ideas, society can not evolve if voices are stifled. Yet, constitutionally a private business has the right to do or not do business with who they chose. Just as the DFLA has every right to speak freely on why their reservation was canceled and why they were there in the first place.
