It has taken almost three years, but California Gavin Newsom is finally ready to call it quits.

Not being governor, unfortunately, but the emergency status put into play regarding the pandemic.

The state of emergency was put in place on March 4, 2020.

It’s Over

Now, most of the restrictions that has been put in place for the pandemic have already been lifted.

The ending of the state of emergency for the pandemic is a formality at this point, but it does end emergency powers that Newsom could have accessed.

On ending the order, he stated, “California is better prepared and that’s because we have a serious Legislature and the health ecosystem in California is second to none in the country.”

The challenge for Newsom now will be to get his healthcare system back on track.

It was gutted during the pandemic, with Newsom pouring $200 million into it last year to try to lure more workers to the field.

Even though there will be a shortfall this year, he has allocated another $50 million to the cause.

There are still seven states around the country that have a state of emergency active, with all but one set to end soon.

Federally, the state of emergency is slated to end on May 11, at which time Title 42 will also be ended, which means our border situation is about to get much worse than it already is.
