Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is once again in the spotlight for abhorrent comments, this time for mocking Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) disability.

Abbott was permanently paralyzed from the waist down and has to use a wheelchair. His disability stems from an incident in 1984 when Abbott was just 26 years old, where he had decided to take a break from studying for the bar exam to go jogging. While running, a large oak tree fell on his back and he was rushed to the hospital, where “Doctors discovered several crushed vertebrae splintering into his spinal cord, broken ribs, and damage to vital organs,” according to Abbott’s website.

While Democrats insist that they stand up for the “marginalized,” including people with disabilities, as usual this does not apply to people who disagree with them. In this case, Crockett’s mockery of Abbott’s disability is even more hypocritical, as she made the remarks during an event in Los Angeles for the far-left Human Rights Campaign — the largest LGBTQ political lobbying group in the U.S.

“Listen, if you’ve ever paid any attention to me, y’all know that I always have remarks, and then something else happens,” the leftist congresswoman began. “And so we gonna do just a couple of remarks and then something else gonna happen and y’all just pray for me cause who know what I’m gonna end up sayin’?”

“I can tell you that Morgan [Morgan Cox, an HRC board of director] has always been one of those people who will ask ‘What is it that you need?’ You know, a lot of people see you out front, fightin’, but nobody’s really asking you, ‘What do you need to maintain that fight?’” Crockett said a couple of minutes later. “So thank you so much, Morgan, because we in these hot-ass Texas streets, honey. Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, C’mon now.”

“And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot-ass mess, honey,” she added.

Crockett faced significant backlash for her comments on social media.

Conservative activist Scott Presler called Crockett “wicked,” deeming her comments “cruel” and “contemptible” and arguing that it “speaks to [her] lack of character.”

“If Jasmine Crockett represents the democrat party, I want nothing to do with democrats. Despicable,” he added.

“When Texas Governor Greg Abbott was 26, he was paralyzed from the waist down. Rather than give up, he spent his life in public service to this nation—from his wheelchair. I am gobsmacked that a Congressmember would mock his disability, at a Human Rights Campaign event no less,” wrote Batya Ungar-Sargon, a journalist and deputy opinion editor of Newsweek.

“This is so disgraceful, ignorant and cruel towards anyone in a wheelchair chair or with a disability. If any democrats had an integrity they would call this out immediately. Jasmine Crockett is a spectacle, a disgrace and just a trashy person,” Meghan McCain wrote.

This is just the latest in Crockett’s escalating scandals. Just a few months ago, Crockett was a relatively unknown member of Congress, but in recent weeks, she has been elevating her political profile with a variety of cringeworthy stunts and controversial remarks. Most recently, she has been called out for her thinly veiled calls for violence — including in one interview where she stated that Democrats should “punch” their opponents and declaring that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) needed to be “knocked over the head, like, hard.”
