Fans in Romania were in for a bit of a shock when legendary American guitarist Al Di Meola suffered a heart attack on stage in the middle of his performance on Wednesday night, September 27. According to photographer Dragos Cristescu, the 69-year-old artist was seen clutching his chest before he staggered off stage while the remaining band members continued to play.
After learning about the severity of his health condition, they called off the concert.
Di Meola was quickly admitted to a cardiology ward at Bagdasar-Arseni emergency hospital and is receiving treatment for a segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
