Oh was born Jacklyn Smith and had undergone a gluteal augmentation procedure the day before her death. After the surgery she developed a headache and was advised at a post-surgical appointment to take ibuprofen and discontinue an anti-nausea medication she had been prescribed.
Shortly afterwards, she began feeling like her head was burning and emergency services were called. Upon arriving at the ER, Oh became unresponsive and was pronounced dead.
The report added that Oh did not use tobacco, alcohol or drugs and had previously gone through breast surgery without any issues. A BET Media Group spokesperson released a statement shortly after confirming her passing: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jacklyn Smith, known to the world as Jacky Oh, a talented ‘Wild N’ Out’ family member whose impact will be forever treasured and missed. Jacky Oh was a loving friend and beloved colleague of the ‘Wild ‘N Out’ cast throughout five seasons.”
Her partner DC Young Fly also issued a statement asking for privacy during this difficult time.
It is devastating to hear about such an avoidable tragedy caused by unregulated plastic surgery procedures which can cause severe health risks when not done properly or without appropriate follow up care after the operation is complete.
When considering undergoing any form of cosmetic surgery, one should only seek out reputable professionals who have experience with performing these types of operations safely. It is also important to understand all potential risks associated with each type of procedure beforehand.
Unfortunately, tragedies such as this can arise when people opt for cheaper alternatives in order to save money which often result in less qualified doctors performing potentially dangerous surgeries without proper pre-op guidelines being followed.
