ICYMI – According to recent reports, the House Judiciary Committee is “seriously weighing” issuing subpoenas for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Subpoenas may also be issued for two prosecutors who resigned last year from their team. The two prosecutors later testified before Congress following the unprecedented indictment of former President Trump last year.

During his hearing on April 4th, Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree in criminal court. The charges against the former president are related to alleged hush-money payments made ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
Just days before the unprecedented indictment and arrest of a former President of the United States, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer began demanding answers from Bragg and his office. They implied that he testify before Congress.

Fox News Digital is reporting that a source has told them that the House Judiciary Committee is “seriously” considering issuing subpoenas for Bragg, and Mark Pomerantz and Carey Dunne, the two prosecutors who left Braggs team last year. The goal would be for them to testify before the panel.
Bragg took over as district attorney in January 2022. According to a letter written last year by Pomerantz, at the time Bragg took over he stopped pursuing charges against Trump and suspended the investigation “indefinitely.”
Pomerantz and Dunne were leading the investigation at the time. It began under the supervision of Bragg’s predecessor – former Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance. They submitted their resignations in February 2022 after Bragg began raising doubts about pursuing a case against Trump.
Pomerantz wrote a tell-all book based on the investigation. At the time of its release, the investigation was still ongoing.

Pomerantz was of counsel at the New York law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison before joining the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. He took leave from the firm in 2022 to join Vance’s office for the purpose of investigating Trump’s financial dealings.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s brother, Robert Schumer, is a partner at the firm. Pomerantz is a vocal Democratic donor who supported Hillary in the 2016 presidential election.
