Joe Biden has been crushing then fossil fuel industry.
So, this decision was a bit surprising to me.
Honestly, even after I saw the Department of Interior (DOI) recommendation, I really thought Biden would halt the Willow Project in Alaska.
Instead, he approved it, and the left lost its mind as soon as it happened.
Drill, Baby!
The project will open up three different locations with more than 200 wells operating.
When it is fully functional, it will produce about 180,000 barrels a day with 300 full-time forever jobs.
That does not include the billions in revenue it will create for the government.
The response from the left was as expected.
The Sierra Club stated, “The Willow project is a climate disaster waiting to happen that would devastate wildlife, lands, AK communities, and our climate.
“We need to speed our transition to clean energy, not double-down on oil and gas.”
Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) added, “If this story is right, it’s a complete betrayal of Biden’s promise not to allow more drilling and a complete catastrophe to rein in climate chaos.
“You can’t ask other countries to forgo their fossil fuels if we keep greenlighting projects here in America.”
What will be interesting to see now is how this impacts Joe Biden’s support among party progressives as we move forward.
