There was a time when a headline like this would shock me.

Those days have long since passed.

Two young boys in Pennsylvania were shot and killed, collateral damage of an assassination attempt.

Just Playing

There was a time when even gangsters had a code in this country.

Innocents were never supposed to be part of any warfare that went on.

Today, collateral damage is just brushed off, even when it was children.

Jesus Perez-Salome, 8, and 9-year-old Sebastian Perez-Salome were have the perfect day.

They were on the back porch playing with their kittens when their lives were ended.

They were collateral damage in the assassination of 19-year-old Joshua Lugo-Perez, who police believe was the intended target of the hit.

Lebanon County District Attorney Pier Hess Graf stated, “There are two children died as a result of this incident.

“They were outside playing with their kittens, they had nothing to do with this.

“And their mother lost two of their children that evening.”

The alleged shooters, 22-year-old Alex Torres-Santos and 16-year-old James Fernandez-Reyes, have both been arrested.

There is still one suspect on the loose.

There are already calls to pursue the death penalty, and rightfully so.
