In another tragic shooting, four young people are dead. Two of the deceased were still in high school. About 28 others, including 15 teenagers, were injured in the mass shooting that took place at a sweet-16 birthday party.

According to local CBS affiliate WRBL, the Tallapoosa County Coroner, Mike Knox, identified the four victims as 23-year-old Corbin Dahmontrey Holston, 18-year-old Philstavious Dowdell, 19-year-old Marsiah Emmanuel Collins, and 17-year-old Shaunkivia Nicole Smith.
Law enforcement officials said 28 others were injured, some of whom are still in critical condition after the shooting in Dadeville, Alabama, Saturday evening. At this time the police have not confirmed whether any suspect or suspects are in custody.

In a tragic turn of events the death of the young always is more information has been reported of the bright futures, some were already on the way toward achieving. One such example was Philstavious Dowdell, who was a Dadeville High School senior. He had just received a football scholarship to attend Jacksonville State University in Alabama.
According to reports, the party was reportedly for Dowdell’s sister. The Montgomery Advertiser reported that Dowdell’s mother was shot twice and is recovering.
Shaunkivia Nicole Smith was also a senior at Dadeville High School. She was planning to attend The University of Alabama this fall.
As law enforcement has not released any suspect names nor reported anyone in custody the question of motive is still unclear.

One Alabama Law Enforcement official, Sgt. Jeremy Burkett, claims the person of interest no longer poses a threat to the community. However, he did not identify a suspect.
The Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office, which had officers responding to the scene, told News outlets that they could not comment on an ongoing investigation.
According to local news outlets, Investigators suspect an altercation led to the shooting.
