Looks like Hunter Biden has been hit with some big news. Due to both dissent and unease within his defense team, Hunter’s criminal defense lawyer Joshua Levy has officially left the case.
This breaking news is likely to have implications for Hunter Biden’s continuing legal troubles, which includes an investigation into his tax affairs.
It was reported that there was infighting within Hunter’s legal team, specifically between Levy and Abbe Lowell, a lawyer who had been hired in December.
Lowell is well-known for her representation of other high-profile individuals that have been involved in political scandals, such as Bill Clinton and Jared Kushner.
Criminal defense lawyer Joshua Levy was originally hired in order to oppose congressional investigations into the Biden family’s business deals.
Apparently Levy became dissatisfied with Lowell’s legal strategies and feared the success rate of his tactics were poor.
The New York Times reported additional details on why Levy was hired by Hunter:
“President Biden’s personal lawyer, Bob Bauer, had recommended Mr. Levy for the job. But Mr. Levy had clashed with Kevin Morris, a lawyer and close adviser to Hunter Biden who has lent him money to pay his back taxes and some other bills, according to a person familiar with the strategy. Mr. Morris and Hunter Biden brought on Mr. Lowell late last year, prompting Mr. Levy’s departure.”
Not only has Lowell’s involvement in the case caused Levy’s departure but it has also triggered infighting with another of Hunter’s criminal defense attorneys, Chris Clark.
Prior to Levy’s departure, there were at least four lawyers on Hunter Biden’s legal team.
