Both a Burton, Michigan, police officer and a Genesee County sheriff’s deputy are in critical condition. They’re fighting for their lives after a suspect they were chasing started blasting at them, point blank. Welcome, once again, to those thrilling days of yesteryear. That particular troublemaker won’t be bothering the town from now on.
Situation ‘critical’ for police
The situation for law enforcement agencies all across America has become just as critical as the condition of the wounded Michigan officers. It seems that the constitution itself is on life support as Antifa® anarchists run wild. To loot, pillage, and plunder like Pirates of the Caribbean. Street level criminals have gotten it into their heads that they can shoot it out with the law any time they feel like it.
We may have police on the job but they are so defunded and demoralized they’re afraid to do their duty because they’ll get sued or sent to jail for it. Meanwhile, they get ambushed every time they turn around.
On Tuesday, December 21, a local hoodlum left the two officers in critical condition after he “opened fire on them during a foot chase.” It wasn’t like he turned around and faced them man-to-man per gunslinger etiquette. No, they were trying to help him up after the fence he was scrambling over collapsed.
The “incident” happened just before 3 p.m. “in the area of Saginaw Street and Bristol Road on Burton’s west side.” Now, known as the “Wild West” side.
According to Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton the officers were responding to a call about shots fired. When they arrived, they instantly “spotted a man matching the description of the suspect and chased him on foot.”
During the pursuit, their suspect “tried to climb a fence as he was fleeing but it collapsed.” That was the critical moment the chase became deadly. Sheriff Chris Swanson announced that 23-year-old Brendan Pinkston doesn’t live in Burton anymore.

Pinkston opened fire
Local reports note that “the officer and the deputy were trying to pull the fence off of the suspect when he opened fire on them, shooting each of them multiple times.”
They didn’t appreciate that much. Both “law enforcement officers returned fire and shot the suspect multiple times.” He was pronounced DOA when the paramedics arrived to rush the officers to the critical care unit.
Prosecutor Leyton notes that the “terrible tragedy” is “a reminder of the danger officers face every day when they leave their home.” Later, the sheriff identified the deceased suspect.
The officers with critical wounds were Burton police officer Dalton Christie and Genesee County sheriff paramedic deputy Brandon Fachting. He also released a video on Wednesday “that showed Pinkston pacing back and forth with a gun in his hand shortly before the shooting took place.”
Investigators really aren’t sure at this point what touched off the events which led to the critical wounding of the officers. They’re clueless as to “what Pinkston was doing in the yard or whether he was looking for someone.”
As the camera rolled, “a 911 caller was reporting Pinkston’s actions. The video ends with Pinkston climbing over a fence and leaving the yard.” Just past Bristol Road, Pinkston tried to climb over another fence which collapsed. “Pinkston opened fire on the officers when they tried to pull it off him.” They saved the taxpayers the expense of trying him.
