Chaos: GOP Primary In Shambles After Candidate Imprisoned By The FBI

The Michigan Republican gubernatorial primary was tossed into more turmoil on June 9th in the early morning when candidate Ryan Kelley was taken into FBI custody as his house was raided by federal agents.

On the very same day, the Democrat-led Select Committee on January 6 is set to perform hearings, Kelley was apprehended and charged with misdemeanors linked to his presence at the January 6 Capitol riot in Washington, D.C. ,Video proof apparently reveals the GOP candidate motioning to protesters as they went into the Capitol structure, according to Bridge News.

The fed’s “Statement of Facts” against Kelley claims, “[T]here is also probable cause to believe that KELLEY violated 18 U.S.C. § 1361, which makes it a crime to willfully injure or commit any depredation against any property of the United States, or of any department or agency thereof, or any property which has been or is being manufactured or constructed for the United States, or any department or agency thereof, or attempt to commit any of the foregoing offenses.”

The FBI raid on Kelley’s house follows weeks of shakeups to the Michigan main race. Simply recently, the Michigan Supreme  Court ended the hopes of 3 other GOP gubernatorial prospects after the Michigan Bureau of Elections discovered their tally petitions included created signatures.

In late May, the Michigan Bureau of Elections recommended disqualifying two of the leading Republican prospects from the tally. The suggestion followed an evaluation of the tally petitions sent by a variety of GOP prospects that discovered that previous Detroit Police Chief James Craig and business owner Perry Johnson had deceptive signatures on their petitions. The prospects fell short of the needed 15,000 signatures to appear on the August ballot due to the fraud.

Just days later on, the Michigan Board of State Canvassers arrived at split decisions on five different fraud cases, indicating that Michigan Republican gubernatorial candidates, consisting of Craig and Johnson, are disqualified to appear on the ballot.

The Michigan Supreme Court then denied appeals from Craig and Johnson to examine the Bureau of Elections’ conclusions, suggesting just five GOP candidates will appear on the primary ballots. After Thursday’s news surrounding Kelley, even that number might come into question.

While Kelley’s future in the GOP race remains to be seen, a primary vote without him would leave only four Republican prospects, below the 10 candidates who at first declared candidacy in the election.

Kelley’s GOP opposition gave statements on his arrest, stating they were praying for his family, and one challenger called out the FBI for “challenging Republicans.”.

“We extend our prayers to the Kelley family,” candidate Garrett Soldano tweeted Thursday. “It’s a sad day in America when the FBI has become an arm of the Democrat Party. Biden’s FBI is busy targeting parents and intimidating Republicans while crime runs rampant across America.”

Another Republican prospect for Governor, business owner Kevin Rinke, informed The Daily Wire that he appreciates Kelley, and he’s wishing him and his household as he waits on more details to come out from the FBI’s raid.

Rinke likewise tweeted about the raid and arrest, connecting a post about President Joe Biden joking on Jimmy Kimmel Wednesday night that his Republican challengers must be sent out to prison for  “not playing it square.”

“I respect Ryan Kelley and have met him out on the trail,” Rinke said. “My hope is that the FBI is acting appropriately, because the timing here raises serious questions. Praying for him and his family.”

A representative for Kelley’s opposition Tudor Dixon informed The Daily Wire that Dixon does not have a comment on Kelley’s arrest. Another among Kelley’s Republican challengers, Pastor Ralph Rebandt, had actually not released any statement on Kelley’s predicament at the time of publication.

Michigan voters have till August 2 to identify who they will back for the Republican election in what has actually ended up being an unforeseeable race.
