As the Republican Party looks ahead to the 2024 Presidential Election, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been making moves that could shape how the party progresses in the future.
After recently appearing at a candidate forum with Tucker Carlson, he dropped Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds’ name as a potential running mate which indicates that she is high on his list.
However, recent polls have him trailing behind former President Donald Trump and rising GOP star Vivek Ramaswamy.
At the forum held in Iowa, DeSantis was asked by reporters if he would consider Reynolds for his VP pick.
He responded positively and spoke highly of her performance as a public servant.
Senator Joni Ernst from Iowa was present at this event and nodded in agreement with what DeSantis had to say about Reynolds.
The Governor noted that while Florida and Iowa may sometimes be competitive with one another, when Republicans are doing well overall it’s something to celebrate rather than become jealous over.
Recently, DeSantis finally addressed questions about whether or not he believes the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump as many of his supporters have suggested.
He stated that although there were some issues during the election process such as ‘ballot harvesting’ and Facebook censoring stories related to Hunter Biden, none of these theories held up in court so they remain unsubstantiated claims.
Furthermore, if Trump ends up being convicted for any charges filed against him under Biden’s Justice Department then DeSantis said he’d pardon him if elected president himself because it wouldn’t be beneficial for him to go to prison regardless of whether or not you agree with him politically.
Governor Ron DeSantis is aware that there are still plenty of lingering questions surrounding the 2020 election but instead of dwelling on these issues going forward he wants focus put towards the upcoming election when all eyes will be on who will lead our nation next after Joe Biden leaves office.
