DeSantis To Protect Florida Kids By Banning…

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R.) told the press that he may use Florida’s child safety laws to ban drag shows for the little ones after a “Drag Show for Children!” event in West Palm Beach Front. “We have laws against child endangerment,” said DeSantis answering a reporter’s question on June 8th during a news conference in Fort Myers Beach.

DeSantis mentioned he is investigating making use of “child protective statutes” as well as “laws against child endangerment”  to forbid the programs. One more drag show in Dallas went viral recently, triggering one Florida legislator to say he is going to introduce a bill to criminalize bringing children to such events. DeSantis noted there was actually “graphic language” used at the Dallas drag show, featuring a fluorescent sign that read, “It’s not gonna lick itself.”

“You had these very young kids, and they must have been like 9, 10 years old, at a ‘drag show’ where they were putting money in the underwear of this—and that is totally inappropriate,” DeSantis said in a news conference in Fort Myers on Wednesday. “That is not something that children should be exposed to.”

“I do think that targeting these kids with all this stuff, it used to be kids would be off-limits…now it just seems like there’s a concerted effort to be exposing kids more and more to things that are not age-appropriate,” said DeSantis during the news conference.

The Governor compared his initiatives to ban drag entertainment for kids to his March Parental Rights in Education bill, which outlawed instruction of sexual orientation and gender identity for children in preschool through 3rd grade. The Biden administration gave out a “Fact Sheet”  after the measure passed, condemning “anti-transgender legislative attacks” and in support of the Equal rights Act, which will shockingly make it possible for children to undergo gender-transition treatments without parental permission.

A California Democratic state senator in reaction to DeSantis proposed organizing drag shows for children at universities in his state.

“This guy just gave me a bill idea: Offering Drag Queen 101 as part of the K-12 curriculum,” Scott Wiener tweeted. “Attending Drag Queen Story Time will satisfy the requirement.”

DeSantis’s education costs, the governor stated, was actually established to maintain a “normal environment” where kids “read and write and add and subtract,”  as opposed to having leftist teachers and also administrators “shov[e] political agendas down their throats.”

“We want to have our kids be kids,” DeSantis said.
