Even after two years, the repercussions of January 6th, 2021 are felt in many parts of the country, including Wyoming.

In a recent case, Douglas Harrington – a 68-year-old man from Bedford, Wyoming – was detained for allegedly attacking US Capitol police officers during the events of January 6th two years prior.

He is now facing federal charges and could be sentenced to up to 70 years in prison if found guilty.

According to reports, a mysterious individual wearing a cowboy hat, goggles, gas mask and backpack was spotted at the scene of the Capitol riots on Jan 6th.

Videos and images were released with this person as he held a flagpole with his hands and used it to hit law enforcement officials present there.

After FBI alerts were issued for assistance in identifying this individual, an anonymous informant named him as Douglas Harrington from Bedford, Wyoming.

This informant had not met Harrington personally but identified him through research.

Further investigation into his arrest warrant revealed that there were numerous similarities between “BOLO 470-AFO” –the unidentified person spotted at the scene– and Harrington’s physical attributes such as attire and possessions.

Additionally, there seemed to be similarity between a mark near his nose with that seen in Harrington’s driver’s license photograph.

Upon procuring a search warrant for personal data belonging to Harrington himself, multiple messages concerning topics such as former President Trump’s election victory, God and “fake stealing our votes” were found on his digital devices/accounts.

One particular text stated how, “the whole world [is] in on this [scheme] to get rid of Trump because one world government…does not want Trump around any longer because he is toppling over their globalist plan.”

It has also been alleged that he urged an acquaintance of his to become part of The Proud Boys organization.

According to court documents, Mr Harrington faces six federal charges including obstructing law enforcement officers, assaulting federal officers, entering and remaining within restricted buildings, disorderly and disruptive conduct within restricted buildings, engaging violence within restricted buildings as well as corruptly obstructing official proceedings.

If convicted on all counts then he will be facing a maximum sentence amounting up to 70 years.

Andrew Galloway from Cody pleaded guilty last year for charges related to these same riots at The Capitol Building; he received 30 days imprisonment along with other fines imposed upon him by Federal Court Judges.
