Shocking news from Egypt revealed that a 4-year-old boy was sentenced to life in prison.

Apparently the sentencing is in connection with four counts of murder, eight counts of attempted murder, threatening authorities, as well as damaging security vehicles.

When presented with the child’s birth certificate, the court refused to recognize it, sending the case to a military court where the boy was handed a life sentence.

The Middle East Monitor reported that at the time, Ahmed Mansour Qarni was just one of 116 individuals charged with murder, destruction of property, and the incitement of riots in connection to a January 2014 incident when the boy was just one-year-old.

“The birth certificate was presented after state security forces added his name to the list of accused, but then the case was transferred to the military court and the child was sentenced in absentia in an ensuing court hearing,” defense attorney Faisal a-Sayd said, according to The Jerusalem Post.

“This proves that the judge did not read the case,” he added.

Obviously this ruling caused a large uproar online, with many users criticizing Egypt’s corrupt government.

Many also labelled it’s legal system as broken.

“There is no justice in Egypt,” Egyptian lawyer Mohammed Abu Hurira replied in response to the sentencing.

“Egypt is ruled by a bunch of lunatics,” he added.
