On Saturday, a hero was born when Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson of Texas went the extra mile and tried to do the right thing – only to find himself in handcuffs and briefly detained.
The incident happened at the White Deer Rodeo in White Deer, around 40 miles from Amarillo according to the Texas Tribune.
According to a statement from Jackson’s office, he had been attending the rodeo when he was summoned by someone in the crowd to assist a 15-year-old girl who was having a medical emergency nearby.
He had been informed by one of her relatives that she needed help because there were no uniformed EMS providers on scene at that time.
While attempting to assess the patient in what can be described as a very loud and chaotic environment, confusion developed between law enforcement on scene and Dr. Jackson which led him being briefly detained and prevented from helping further with medical attention for the young girl.
It was not long however, until law enforcement realized Dr. Jackson’s true intentions; he was medically tending to this patient’s needs as any good doctor would.
Furthermore, it is noted that during his attendance of this rodeo event, Congressman Jackson remained sober – standing among those present with full view of everyone around him without partaking in any alcohol consumption whatsoever throughout his stay there.
Sheriff Tam Terry said in an official statement that one person had been “temporarily detained”, but did not specify or identify Congressman Ronny Jackson as this individual according to Linda Dianne Shouse.
The sheriff also mentioned that he is currently reviewing the incident further before making an official comment regarding its outcome or implications.
