He Was Been Ordered to Pay NEARLY A BILLION DOLLARS

InfoWars founder and entrepreneur Alex Jones‘ trial for civil defamation drew to a close, with a jury ordering Jones to pay $965 million. Nearly a billion dollars in damages will be awarded to the plaintiff families for “defamation damages” and “emotional stress damages,” in connection with the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting of 2012.

According to The Post Millennial, the payments are set to go to the families of the shooting victims. The Connecticut Jury said Wednesday that Jones claimed the shooting was “orchestrated” and that the family members were actors.

Jones and his holding company Free Speech systems were sued for $550 million by the group of parents, the final amount, however, was determined by the jurors.

ABC reported. “The plaintiffs’ attorney, Chris Mattei, asked the six jurors to “think about the scale of the defamation,” citing as one example Jones’ claim the families, “faked their 6- or 7-year-old’s death.”

“Defense attorney Norm Pattis told jurors it was not their job to bankrupt Jones so he would stop broadcasting lies,” they added.

Jones reacted to the verdict in a live video on Infowars,  he called the crushing penalty a “political joke,” and said, “They actually believe they’re getting this money. It’s like they believe all their own stuff.” Jones added that he would be “disappointed” if the figure did not reach a billion dollars, and noted that the damages are little more than “getting blood out of a stone.”

Jones was previously ordered to pay out $41 million to another group of Sandy Hook families and a third trial is upcoming. However, he did announce his intent to appeal the ruling.

Jones’ lawyer, Norm Pattis, confirmed they will appeal and referred to the verdict a “dark day” for freedom of speech according to Connecticut Public Radio.

“From start to finish, the fix was in on this case,” Pattis said. “We disagree with the basis of the default, we disagree with the court’s evidentiary rulings. In more than 200 trials in the course of my career, I’ve never seen a trial like this. And we very, very, very much look forward to an appeal.”
