Andrew Bradshaw, the Mayor of Cambridge Maryland, is facing 50 counts of distributing revenge porn on the social media site Reddit. Revenge Porn has become a common tactic of the petty to humiliate and degrade the victim. Sadly many women are victims of this trend due to the sharing of nude selfies with lovers, boyfriends, and husbands.

The Investigation of Revenge Porn
The investigation claims that each post was traced back to an IP address associated with the Mayor. The posts had the name and personal information of the Mayor’s previous girlfriend as well as “racial slurs and sexually explicit language.” The subreddits that these pictures were posted to were “related to sexual activity, humiliation, degradation, race, and other topics.”

Charlton T. Howard III the state prosecutor investigating the case stated: “Using someone’s private images without their consent is a serious breach of trust and invasion of privacy, and the power and breadth of the internet makes such a violation even more egregious
The Mayor’s ex-girlfriend brought the posts to the attention of authorities in May. She denies that anyone else but the Mayor would have had access to these pictures. The couple was reportedly no longer together at the time these pictures were discovered on the internet.
How is the City Handlining This Scandal?
Even though legal action has been taken against Andrew Bradshaw he remains the mayor of Cambridge, MD. According to The Baltimore Sun David Deutsch, the acting city manager has said meetings between the commissioners and the city attorney will determine the next course of action in regards to the Mayor.

“The legal issues surrounding the mayor is a personal matter and doesn’t involve city business,” Deutsch stated to reporters.
Revenge porn is a serious crime in Maryland, and the Mayor could face up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine for each count if found guilty.
