A massive mob of mall pirates managed to loot a Nordstrom in broad daylight, making off with “thousands of dollars in merchandise” in less than ten minutes. The wild “smash-and-grab style raid” impressed the local Los Angeles hood rats by including “thieves attacking security guards with bear spray.”
Loot, pillage and plunder
The pirates of the Topanga Mall managed to loot, pillage and plunder their way through Nordstrom at about 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, yo ho.
Police estimate around 50 bandits “dressed in hoods and masks” raided the luxury clothing store, snatching “pricey bags and clothing before high-tailing it to the exits.” Never to be seen again. Police have a hunch it was professional.
This, police shrug, “was just the latest brazen robbery attempt at a clothing store in the city.” They have all sorts of security footage. It will be used to validate the insurance claim.

After the claim is paid, to cover the cost of the stolen loot, the insurance company will stop doing business in California, like many others. When Nordstrom is unable to renew their policy, they’ll close the doors. Anyone who wants to buy luxury clothes will have to jet to Nevada for them.
Footage “from the scene showed the chaos within the store as the thieves darted between aisles and smashed display cases.”
The mob cheerfully “knocked over shelves and mannequins” while “frantically grabbing” whatever they could loot. Store employees “looked on helplessly” as somewhere between $60,000 and $100,000 worth of goods walked out the door.

Doused with bear spray
At least the hijackers had the taste to arrive in stylish rides. Police note they stashed the loot in “several cars including a BMW and a Lexus” and split.
If you know someone involved in the heist and want to make some extra cash, the cops will happily pay you for doing their job. They’re never going to crack the case unless someone burns their cousin in a drug deal or cheats on the wrong girl.
This wasn’t just a property crime. “At least one guard was doused with bear spray — which causes violent eye and respiratory irritation in humans. The guard was treated by paramedics.” That wasn’t nice. Prosecutors in LA let you loot any store you want but injuring people gets noticed.
It’s been a while, but I don’t recall Nordstrom’s selling loaves of bread. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄Nice explanation dumbass. pic.twitter.com/mXIXc2qAva

“To criminals, it is just property taken,” the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement. “To those who live in the area and patronize the Topanga Mall, it is a loss of feeling safe.”
Target and Walmart have already started pulling their stores from high crime areas. Lot’s of other retailers have jumped on the bandwagon. Since police let anyone loot anything they want, calling it discrimination to arrest a shoplifter, the retailers are giving up and pulling out. “The LAPD will exhaust all efforts to bring those responsible into custody and seek criminal prosecution.”
The only problem is they don’t actually have any money or any cops or any resources to accomplish much more than answering the phone at the tip-line. Only a few days earlier, “up to 30 people raided a Yves Saint Laurent store just over 20 miles west at the Brand shopping center in Glendale.” They made off with $300,000 in goods, showing how overpriced Yves Saint Laurent is. There’s the real looter.
