Some commonsense has finally found its way into the Pentagon.
A memo was recently issued that vaccine deniers in the service are to have their records scrubbed.
This means the fact they refused to take the vaccine can no longer block them from being promoted.
It’s About Time
This is one of two steps the Pentagon needs to take to make things right for our servicemen and women.
I fully understand that military members are required to follow orders and often have to get a laundry list of vaccines for a station.
However, this was an untested vaccine, but we knew the virus has far less impact on young, healthy individuals.
Additionally, many of those that did not want to take the vaccine had already had it, and we now know natural immunity was at least as good as the vaccine.
I cannot fault anyone, in the service or not, for not wanting to take a Gen1 vaccine.
The memo by the Pentagon will “formally rescind any policies, directives, and guidance implementing those vaccination mandates as soon as possible, if they have not already done so.”
Now the Pentagon need to offer to reinstate all service members that were separated over this, preferably with back pay.
Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) addressed this, stating, “There are two issues at play here: there are thousands of individuals who were unceremoniously booted from their posts at the same time that every branch of the military is facing recruitment challenges.
“This bill gives us a chance to right a wrong for those service members who chose to exercise their right to medical freedom, and to get qualified and trained troops back in uniform and protecting our country.”
