Well, well, well… it would appear as though taking Chinese money is a “thing” for the Democrat Party.
The latest to fall under the spell of the Chinese is Senator Jon Tester (D-MT).
Tester has openly pushed back against China grabbing up farmland, but he has apparently been loading his coffers up with cash from Chinese conglomerates that are doing exactly that.
Hypocrite
There has been a lot of pushback in this country over Chinese grabbing up huge parcels of land.
As far as I know, the only governor that has actually done something about this is Governor DeSantis in Florida.
However, plenty of politicians have spoken against it, including Tester.
Tester has an ad running that claims, “Let me be clear, China is the greatest threat facing our nation. They’ve been undercutting American jobs for generations.
“Their fentanyl is wreaking havoc on Montana’s communities. They’ve even flown spy balloons across their state.
“So when I found out that Chinese corporations were buying American farmland, I went to work with my Republican colleagues and said, ‘not on my watch.’ Whatever it takes, I’ll defend Montana and I’ll keep our nation safe.”
FEC filings show that Tester has received $3,500 in campaign donations from a Chinese-backed PAC in 2018.
He also received $250 from Laura Peterson, a registered lobbyist for Syngenta, which is a Chinese state-owned company, purchased by ChemChina in 2017.
When asked about the donations, the Tester campaign stated, “Jon Tester makes decisions based on what is best for Montana and our national security, which is why he’s proud to introduce legislation preventing foreign adversaries from controlling American farmland.”
So, I guess it does not count if they already purchased that farmland and donated to his campaign.
