The entire nation is now on alert over the case of Athena Brownfield.
The 4-year-old Oklahoma girl has been missing since Tuesday.
An arrest has been made in the case, but officials are frantically searching in the hopes they can still find her alive.
Hope for the Best
Authorities realized the girl was missing when her 5-year-old sister was found alone by a postal worker.
The sister was unharmed, but she was scared, according to reports.
A statewide manhunt has been underway since, with authorities using every tool in their arsenal to try to find her.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) Eric Foster stated, “We’ve been in the air in helicopters with infrared, on the ground, around town there have been a lot of grid searches on foot and on four-wheelers, things like that.
“Our Emergency Response Team (ERT), which is specially trained to go on foot in search of people and things, are out in coordination with civilians who have come and wanted to volunteer their time and effort.”
The bureau’s PIO Brook Arbeitman added, “We are still very actively looking for her using all of our tools. We are finding things that we hope might give us clues as to where she is, but we are still actively looking for her.”
Abreitman continued, “This is a very active and ongoing investigation, and right now our top priority is locating her.
“And sorting out who is responsible will come next.
“We need to find this little girl.
“She’s on her own in the elements.
“So, is that endangered? Yeah. But is she the victim of physical harm? That’s yet to be determined.”
Authorities have since arrested the girl’s caretaker, but that is a developing story at the time of this report.
Let’s just hope and pray they find her alive.
