Independent presidential candidate Cornel West is calling out Vice President Kamala Harris for being “part of a corrupt Democratic Party” and demanding that Democrat voters “abandon” the Democrat presidential nominee.
The sentimental excitement over the new Harris-Walz ticket hides and conceals the corrupt two-party system that is saturated with big money, corporate power and militaristic policies at home and abroad. Standing alongside anti-Israel protesters outside of the Democrat National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, Cornel West called Harris out for not being radical enough.
Harris — who is arguably the most far-left and radical candidate that Democrats have ever nominated — is apparently not progressive enough, according to the former Green Party member.
When asked by Breitbart News what his message was to Harris at the DNC, West stated: “I would say shame on my dear sister Harris in enabling genocide and denying genocide and the issues of mass incarceration, the issues of wealth inequality, the issues that she still has not been able to speak to.”
He then argued that Harris is “part of a corrupt Democratic Party,” adding: “And the Democratic Party does not speak to the elimination of genocide, the elimination of poverty, the elimination of homelessness, the elimination of workers subordinated, and so forth.”
The independent candidate also called on Democrat voters to be “challenged by the truth,” stating that “truth and justice find very little space in a corrupt two-party system.”
“And the Democratic Party’s living in illusion and self-deception if they think that they can enable genocide and walk around as if they have moral authority,” he added, referring to the free Palestine movement.
West’s comments came as he stood alongside fellow protesters, whose signs read: “Abandon Harris, Free Palestine.”
He explained that the “Abandon Harris” signs are for both the United States “and the world” because the protesters stand in “solidarity with their struggle against a vicious genocide, ethnic cleansing, and apartheid condition.”
West was then asked whether he was advocating for all left-leaning voters to abandon Harris, to which he responded: “We are calling for more than that.”
As is common with most people on the far-left, Cornel West was more focused on what the U.S. should do for other countries, rather than calling on the American government to focus more on internal issues that are effecting everyday Americans — other than his advocacy for communist policies that will destroy the country.
“We want Palestinians to be free. We want them to live a life of dignity and decency. We want them to be free of this genocidal assault, and I want the children to have smiles on their faces rather than bodies blown apart. That’s what we really want, and that’s true for oppressed people around the world,” West said.
“That’s why I’m here for, but everyone has their own motivation, you know what I mean?” he added.
