What Hollywood Legend Matthew McConaughey Just Did For Uvalde Is…

Matthew McConaughey paid a visit to his hometown of Uvalde, Texas following the horrific school shooting at Robb Elementary School that killed 19 students and 2 teachers.

The Hollywood legend connected with Rep. Tony Gonzales to meet with families and other individuals affected by the recent tragic event, including the parents of children whose lives were lost during the massacre and school district employees.

The Republican Congressman Tony Gonzales (R-TX 23) posted a tweet with a photo that showed the actor with several members of the Uvalde comunity, writing, “This week was a solemn reminder that evil exists in the world, but we will never let it break us. We’ll unite to be an even more powerful reminder that love never fails & together we can change things. Appreciate Uvalde native Matthew McConaughey helping us heal. #UvaldeUnited.”

Now 52-year-old Matthew McConaughey was born just 83 miles west of San Antonio in the Texas town where his mother was a teacher at a nearby school close to the scene of the deadly shooting that just occurred on May 24.

In fact, McConaughey was one of the first high-profile stars to address the tragedy that took place in a plea to control the epidemic of school shootings that is the current reality.

The actor wrote on social media on May 24, “As you all are aware there was another mass shooting today, this time in my hometown of Uvalde, Texas,” he stated.

“Once again we have tragically proven that we are failing to be responsible for the rights our freedoms grant us,” he continues.

“As Americans, Texans, mother and fathers, it’s time we re-evaluate, and renegotiate our wants from our needs.  We have to rearrange our values and find a common ground above this devastating American reality that has tragically become our children’s issue.” McConaughey asserted.

“This is an epidemic we can control, and whichever side of the aisle we stand on, we all know we can do better,” he added.

“We must do better. Action must be taken so that no parents has to experience what the parents of in Uvalde and the others before them have endured.”
