There is about to be a serious dustup in Congress.
Progressives were hoping that the Senate would push back on the GOP legislation to had passed in the House to overturn the DC crime bill.
Not only did the bill pass the Senate, it passed it with significant Democrat support.
Crime is Bad
We all know progressives want to empty out the prisons and put thugs out on the streets.
Having said that, this bill was ridiculous.
For instance, it was going to lower the penalties for crimes such as carjacking and illegal firearm possession.
These are two of the biggest problems we have right now, and they are looking to set them free quicker.
When Schumer was asked about supporting the GOP legislation, he stated, “I’m going to vote yes.
“It was a close question.
“But on balance, I’m voting yes.”
The legislation was so bad, the mayor of DC vetoed it when it came across her desk, but the city council overrode her veto.
So, the progressives will just have to pout because Congress finally used some common sense.
