Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) just proved us right in regard to these battles in Congress being all political theater.

With the debt ceiling crisis now into single-digit days before we run out of money, Schumer decided recess was more important to staying in town to approve a deal.

It is almost as if they all know a last-second deal will be struck and there is no need to really worry about it.

Cancel Recess

There is little more than a week left before the United States runs out of money.

If the debt ceiling is not lifted, the ramifications to the global economy are rather significant.

One would think that Schumer would keep everyone close to DC to vote on a possible bill, but that is not the case.

Schumer is releasing the Senate for his holiday recess and will worry about the legislation when he gets back.

When you consider the deadline is on Wednesday and they will not be returning until Tuesday, you can see why I think they are all full of crap.

On the recess, Schumer stated, “The negotiations are currently making progress. As Speaker McCarthy has said, he expects the House will vote next week if an agreement is reached and the Senate would begin consideration after that.”

But what if they are questions or problems that some Senators want to debate?

Schumer’s move leaves very little time to address any of those issues, but that is likely because he knows this is all political theater

As usual, this is more about creating a headline than addressing an actual crisis.
