Police finally have a person of interest in the brutal murder of Rachel Morin.
They have released a video showing the man.
However, they have also issued a warning that this man is very dangerous and could attack again.
Brutal Murder
Morin went out for a hike one day and never came back.
She was on a Maryland trail that is highly populated and generally considered to be very safe.
The day after she disappeared, authorities received a call that a body had been found.
When they found her body, they stated it was quite clear that this was not an accidental death.
The Sheriff’s office stated, “It was more than obviously apparent to police officers and our detectives who came up that this was not an accidental injury— somebody out exercising who’s fallen down and sustained a fatal injury.
“This was not something that was self-inflicted…This was the action of one or more persons who took her life in a criminal homicide—an egregious, horrific act in what is very otherwise…a very, very safe area.”
DNA evidence has been recovered from Morin, and police stated that it matched a man who was wanted for another attack.
The Sheriff’s office added, “This person has an absolute disregard for the sanctity of human life and, until he’s arrested, there is a threat he’ll do something harmful to someone else.”
