A former NFL wide receiver has died.
Mike William, who played for Tampa Bay, Buffalo, and Kansas City, recently passed away.
He was only 36 years old.
Gone Too Soon
Williams was a star player for Syracuse, but he was also very polarizing.
After a huge freshman season, the problems started.
He was suspended for academic reasons, then quit after a second suspension loomed.
The Bucs took him in the 4th round of the ensuing draft, and he was a star right out of the gate.
He led the team in TDs and finished second for Rookie of the Year honors.
The Bucs gave him a $40 million contract extension, then the problems started.
He was eventually traded to his hometown Buffalo Bills, then he signed with the Chiefs and was designated to the practice squad.
He went from star to out of the league in just a few seasons.
At the time of his death, he was working construction in Buffalo and died in a construction-related accident.
The full details of his death have yet to be released.
