A young boy had dialed 911 simply because he wanted to give the police officer a hug. The moment was recorded on Deputy Pracht’s bodycam and the home’s Ring doorbell camera and quickly gained traction on social media platforms after being shared by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Dayana Del Valle, the young boy’s mother, said her son didn’t know what 911 was for. When she asked if he had called the police he replied “Well, I wanted to give him a hug”. He then enthusiastically added, “I know what your phone number is – it’s 9-1-1,” before eagerly rushing to embrace the officer.

Deputy Scott Pracht of Hillsborough County responded to this call with love and understanding for the innocence behind the act. He replied “Yeah, I’ll explain it. It’s not a problem.” He took a moment to teach this young boy about emergency numbers while giving him something much more powerful – kindness and human contact in an age where we are so often disconnected from one another.
