The now ironically-named American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has begun advising far-left cities and states on how to aid illegal aliens in avoiding deportation under President-elect Donald Trump and his border czar, Tom Homan.

Trump has nominated Homan as border czar and tasked him with carrying out the largest deportation program in U.S. history. Nearly 1.5 million of the 11-22 million illegal aliens estimated to be living in the U.S. have final deportation orders.

Democrats are obviously outraged over the planned mass deportations, and have already begun discussing ways to fight back. In an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow earlier this week, ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero revealed that the radical leftist organization had been creating a “game plan” to pressure and advise city and state officials to protect illegal aliens from deportation.

“We have this whole plan around the firewall for freedom … the idea that these local officials can really play an important role in stopping the guardrail abuses,” Romero told Maddow.

“For instance, when they’re going to try and detain and deport all these hundreds of thousands, up to a million, people,” he added. “That’s an operation that they have the legal power to do, to do the raids. But the logistics, they’re going to need mayors and governors or city councils to give them access to police officers or not, jails, where are you going to house all of these folks.”

The ACLU executive director went on to explain that the organization had been demanding that cities and states pardon illegal aliens with criminal convictions to protect them from the first round of deportation — as Trump and Homan have stated that they will start by focusing on illegal aliens who have been convicted of crimes. Romero also stated that the ACLU was trying to force cities and states to not allow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in their jails or prisons.

“They should sever these relationships that they have with the federal government on immigration enforcement,” Romero said, referring to city and state officials.

“They should make sure our prisons and jails are off-limits,” he added. “They should begin to think about what actions they can take to pardon immigrants who have a criminal record because they drove on a suspended license. Let’s take them out of harm’s way …  we’ve got to swarm our allies in these places … there’s a whole game plan for this.”

Meanwhile, Homan has repeatedly warned officials in Democrat states and cities he will arrest people found to be protecting illegal aliens, including directly vowing to arrest Denver Mayor Mike Johnston

“But, look, me and the Denver mayor, we agree on one thing: He’s willing to go to jail, I’m willing to put him in jail,” Homan said during an interview.
