It looks like our fearless Transportation Secretary is about to have another nightmare on his hands.
There was a significant train derailment in the Ohio village of East Palestine.
Dangerous chemicals immediately hit the air, causing widespread panic in the area.
Derailment
The derailment took place right near the Ohio-PA state border.
After the train derailed, dangerous plumes of black smoke could be seen for miles.
They were dangerous in the fact the chemical that was burning up was vinyl chloride.
This was a controlled release at the site, but residents in the area were told to evacuate for fear of what the chemical release could do to them.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine told them, “You need to leave, you just need to leave. This is a matter of life and death.”
That just has to make everyone feel wonderful, as well as wondering what those chemicals will do the water and air quality in the near future.
The burn was sending phosgene and hydrogen chloride into the air.
To give you an idea, this was used during World War I against opposing soldiers because of the difficulties it creates when breathing.
The train derailed Friday night just after the crew had placed a call about a mechanical issue.
The derailment is still under investigation, but don’t worry, because Petey is on the job!
