Being a part of the corporate world comes with a lot of responsibilities and expectations as many of us are aware. And one of those expectations is to dress in a certain professional manner that falls in line with whatever dress code is put into place.
Recently, the issue of appropriate workwear was brought into the spotlight when Jennifer Huerta (@bigbo0tyjenny) was reprimanded by her boss for dressing inappropriately.
Jennifer had been wearing the same outfits for over a year and was confused as to why she had suddenly caused offence.
Her video generated mixed reactions from her followers, with some saying her outfit looked nice while others thought it wasn’t suitable for the office setting.
The outfit that caused all the fuss consisted of a tight, brightly colored and patterned top along with figure-hugging black trousers.
She stated she had been wearing these same clothing items every day for a year and expressed disbelief at why this was an issue now after going unnoticed for so long.
Reactions to Jennifer’s post ranged from those who thought she looked nice and nothing inappropriate about the ensemble to those who felt it wasn’t suitable for the corporate office environment.
This latter opinion seemed to be shared by many former corporate managers who commented on how sheer arms, leggings and a shirt that was too short weren’t considered professional attire.
Others argued that while cute and attractive, it still didn’t look businesslike enough for the workplace.
But that begs the question: why did Jennifer get into trouble after wearing the same clothes every day for a year?
