A new report has revealed that two dead bodies were discovered in the home of former Rhode Island mayor Susan Menard.

According to WJAR, police in the city of Woonsocket found the decomposing bodies of an elderly man and woman in Menard’s home, who had held the position of mayor for over 14 years.

Menard had begun her time as mayor back in 1995 before leaving office in 2009, which apparently is the longest in the city’s history.

It is still unknown whether or not one of the bodies discovered in the home is Menard herself.

Police shared that upon discovery, the bodies were “badly decomposed” and are now currently being investigated by the medical examiner.

Authorities have also stated that they have not found any sign of criminal behavior, however are still investigating.

A lot remains unknown at this point, given how recently the bodies were discovered.

Any additional information regarding the bodies has not been revealed as of yet.

The town of Woonsocket in Rhode Island holds a population of over 40,000 residents.
