The massive uprising in progress in Kazakhstan has placed both the mainstream media, with CNN in particular as well as the Biden-Harris regime on an unstable perch atop a slippery slope. On the one hand, you have CNN and the mainstream who are so wrapped up in their January 6th fervor that they are compelled to use the violence in the former Soviet satellite as some sort of cautionary tale and appear in much of their reporting to almost be siding WITH the pair of despotic authoritarian Russian-backed dictators that have ruled that nation since the fall of the USSR. Simultaneously you have Joe Biden talking tough to Russia, warning their incoming “peacekeepers” not to crack down on the protestors appearing to take the side of the people charging into their capital to depose a leader “elected” in a corrupt ballot… it’s really quite something to see.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is struggling to maintain power and has reached out to the Russia-led Collective Security Treaty Organization the military arm of the post-Soviet collapse Commonwealth of Independent States, for assistance in propping up his rule. And after dismissing his predecessor the 81-year-old Nursultan Nazarbayev from his nominal post on the National Security Council and the resignation of the entire government under him Tokayev is truly ruling on his own. The crisis seems to have begun over a massive jump in fuel prices that added to pre-existing discontent of the heavily oppressed population suffering from, rampant corruption, low living standards,  widespread poverty, and unemployment despite the unbelievable riches of oil, natural gas, and uranium that have enriched the corrupt single-party regime built on the skeleton of the communist party that preceded it. The CSTO also includes neighboring former Soviet nations Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

According to The Associated Press,

“The CSTO’s general secretary, Stanislav Zas, told Russia’s RIA-Novosti news agency that the full contingent to be sent as peacekeepers would number about 2,500.

He rejected as “complete stupidity” suggestions that the troops would act as occupiers rather than peacekeepers. “The sincere wish of our states is real help for Kazakhstan in the difficult situation,” he said.

However, White House press secretary Jen Pasaki said the U.S. has “questions about the nature of this request and whether it was a legitimate invitation or not.”

“The world will, of course, be watching for any violation of human rights and actions that may lay the predicate for the seizure of Kazakh institutions,” she said.

CNN Struggles To Hold Onto J6 Narrative, Almost Makes Autocrat Seem Legit

Meanwhile, CNN is walking a fine line attempting to report the story without drawing obvious parallels to the January 6th Capitol riot,

“On January 5, protesters reportedly stormed the airport in the country’s biggest city, Almaty, forcibly entered government buildings, and set fire to the city’s main administration office, local media reported. There were also reports of deadly clashes with police and military, a nationwide internet blackout and buildings damaged in three major cities.
Local media reported eight police officers and national guard personnel were killed and more than 300 officers injured. It is unclear to what extent civilians have been killed or injured. The country’s Interior Ministry said more than 200 people have been arrested.”
They seemed to stumble while acknowledging the similar motivations between the Kazakh uprising and the J6 Rioters, instead sounding as if the regime as almost legitimate.
“Even before independence in 1991, the country’s political scene has been dominated by one man — 81-year-old Nursultan Nazarbayev. The longtime president and former Communist Party official ruled for almost three decades before stepping down in 2019.
His autocratic method of governance sparked international concern and saw authorities harshly crack down on protests, jail critics and stifle press freedoms, according to global rights groups. Critics accused Nazarbayev of appointing family members and allies to key jobs in government and his family is believed to control much of the Kazakh economy, Reuters reported.Nazarbayev was best known in the West for renouncing nuclear weaponry and his relocation of the capital to the futuristic city of Astana — which was later renamed Nur-Sultan, after himself.
The US State Department’s 2018 human rights report noted Kazakhstan’s 2015 presidential election, in which Nazarbayev received 98% of votes cast, “was marked by irregularities and lacked genuine political competition.” There have never been elections in Kazakhstan judged free and fair by international observers.”
French language Twitter account Anonyme Citoyen removed all doubt of the carnage being perpetrated on the Kazakhstani people when they posted a disturbing video of Government forces tuning down civilians. “Bloody repression at #Kazakhstan . A military operation has started to regain control of #Almaty . The authorities announce “dozens” of protesters killed. The Internet is still completely cut off in the country.”
