Democrat Flip-Flopped On Men In Women’s Sports Just Before Election

Democrat Flip-Flopped Just Before Election

Just one day before the 2024 election, one Democrat in a tough race has flip-flopped on the issue of allowing men in women’s sports.

Democrats were previously proud of their support for allowing men pretending to be women to take over women’s sports, despite it often leading to women losing out on trophies they rightfully deserve and men actually physically harming women during sporting events.

However, now that the issue has caused many independents and even some Democrats to turn against the party, Democrat politicians have been walking back their positions — including Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), who is currently in a tight race against Republican challenger Dave McCormick.

In a new campaign advertisement, Casey flip-flopped and accused McCormick of lying about Casey’s well-documented record of supporting so-called “transgender” men in women’s sports.

“Dave McCormick and his billionaire backers think they can fool you about anything,” the ad states. “The truth? Bob Casey’s not for men and girls’ sports.”

Despite his efforts at flip-flopping on the issue, his past position on this issue is clear — as the Daily Wire has confirmed Casey’s long history of fighting to allow men in women’s sports.

According to the outlet, “He co-sponsored the Equality Act, legislation that would have allowed men who identify as women into female locker rooms, prisons, shelters, and more. He has expressed support for child gender transitions and called Republicans ‘extreme’ for objecting to men in women’s spaces.”

“Casey, who is supported by the far-left Human Rights Campaign and GLAAD, did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Daily Wire,” the outlet added.

The Daily Wire also highlighted the fact that Casey had invited the NCAA to Pennsylvania after the organization announced that it was leaving North Carolina over the state’s ban on men in women’s bathrooms and locker rooms. In a September 2016 letter to the NCAA president, Casey wrote: “Pennsylvania is proud of its diversity across the Commonwealth.”

“We strive to achieve equality for the people who both reside and visit the Commonwealth regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or sexual identification,” he added.

At the same time, Casey spoke with Philadelphia Gay News about the issue, stating: “I certainly wish it was a letter nobody had to write. If the state government in North Carolina had done the right thing, nobody would have to write a letter suggesting alternate locations.”

The Democrat senator also called Republicans “extreme” for even daring to talk about the issue of men in women’s spaces.

“No one should fear for their safety because of the gender with which they identify,” Casey tweeted in August 2020, referring to an article on the beating of a man pretending to be a woman. “Yet some extreme Republican politicians care more about what bathrooms transgender people use, or what sports team they play on, than they do about violence against transgender women of color.”

Casey also went so far as to express support for “young adults” to undergo dangerous and irreversible transgender procedures, according to a June 2023 letter obtained by the Daily Caller, where the Democrat senator claimed that concerns about men in women’s sports were based on “overgeneralized” and “unfounded assumptions.”

“The decision to transition is a profoundly significant and challenging one that young adults make after careful consideration,” Casey wrote, according to the outlet. “This is a conclusion that young adults reach after extensive consultation with their medical providers and loved ones, and with the knowledge of the tremendous social obstacles that unfortunately lie ahead.”

Casey is not the only Democrat that has flip-flopped on their position on transgender issues out of fear of losing their reelection — as both Rep. Collin Alred (D-TX), who is running to try to take Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) Senate seat, and Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK) have been backing away from their previous positions on the issue.
