A sheriff’s deputy in Michigan recently performed a heroic rescue when a 63-year-old man was experiencing a medical emergency while driving.
Macomb County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicole Miron is being lauded as a hero after she and her fellow deputy worked to rescue a man in danger. Miron and her partner first spotted the man driving erratically on Gratiot Avenue in Mount Clemens, Michigan, and attempted to pull him over.
Instead of complying, the man kept driving at a mere five miles per hour, leaving the deputies confused. Upon pulling up alongside the man’s truck, the deputies realized that he “appeared to be in a daze” — likely suffering from some sort of medical episode — and was unable to respond to their requests.
Footage of the incident released by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office shows the man’s silver truck repeatedly hitting curbs while moving slowly down the road.
Thinking quickly, Miron realized that she had to do something to stop the vehicle and rescue the driver, while also keeping the rest of the drivers on the road safe. So, she climbed out of the passenger seat of the moving patrol vehicle being driven by her partner and entered the window of the truck.

“You good? You okay? Is this park?” she reportedly asked the man, only to discover that he was suffering from a medical issue.
“Luckily we had a car following the vehicle so we were able to keep tabs exactly where the vehicle was headed,” Miron explained, adding that she worked fast to get the truck stopped, as it was coming up to a busy intersection.
Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham spoke out after the heroic rescue, praising his deputies for their quick thinking and calmness under pressure when a citizen was in danger.
“I commend Deputy Miron for putting herself in harm’s way to help a citizen in need and protect other drivers on the roadway. Due to her quick thinking and selfless actions, she safely ended what could have been a tragic situation,” he said.
Miron has also spoken out to praise her partner, Deputy Anthony Gross, for his fantastic driving — thanking him for keeping their patrol vehicle close to the moving truck while also making sure she was safe.
Surprisingly, Gross was still in training at the time of the incident, as he later revealed that it was only his 15th day on the job.
“That day was probably like day 15. Right now I’m on training, so she’s my training officer. Our trust is new but I feel like it’s pretty strong. We’ve had solid days,” Gross said.
