Ron DeSantis has been struggling since announcing that he was entering the presidential race.
He tried to get into a pissing match with Trump, but his moves on that front have generally backfired.
DeSantis needs to stay on message and allow his PACs to the do attacking.
To that point, DeSantis tried to change the latest narrative in the media by announcing his debate plans.
I Will Be There
Trump has been undecided if he will attend the debates for the GOP primary.
He has openly stated that with his lead, there is simply no upside to debating.
Other than the optics, Trump is right, and at this point, I don’t see how any single debate performance would take enough out of his lead to risk the nomination.
DeSantis is hoping for the opposite.
He stated, “I’ll be there regardless.
“I hope everybody who’s eligible comes.
“I think it’s an important part of the process and I look forward to being able to be on the stage and introducing our candidacy and our vision and our leadership to a wide audience.”
DeSantis’ only hope right now is to have an amazing performance against Trump in a debate, but Trump may not give him that chance.
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who is also running, believe that Trump will show because his “ego” will not allow him to share the spotlight.
DeSantis better hope that is true or it will be game over.
