Just when you thought it could not get worse.
Chicago has an open election, so the city often sees two Democrats in a runoff election facing off.
Lori Lightfoot finished in third place, so she did not even make the dance.
Paul Vallas “won” the election, but with only 32.9 percent of the vote, a runoff was coming.
His opponent was going to be uber-progressive Brandon Johnson, who won 21.63 percent of the vote.
Upset
Vallas seemed like the easy pick, as Johnson stated he wanted to take a more “holistic approach” to policing.
That translates to moving funding away from actual police into other programs for alternative responders.
Because of that, the local police union backed Vallas, while the corrupt teachers’ union backed Johnson.
Apparently, the people of Chicago love living in fear because Johnson got over the finish line, garnering 51.44 percent of the vote.
Suburban Chicagoans are probably still picking their jaws up off the ground wondering how the people that need the police protection the most continue to support candidates that want to remove police from the streets.
