Talk about embarrassing. On Wednesday, September 27, GOP Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN) shared an epic video of him roasting a left-wing reporter that attempted to confront him on former President Donald Trump’s call for a government shutdown.

Instead of discussing the political question at hand, Rep. Burchett chose to comment on the reporter‘s choice of attire which added an amusing twist to the looming issue in DC.

In the video, you can hear Burchett choose to comment on the operative’s choice of attire rather than delving into the political question at hand: “He has not called me… and I do not, I DO NOT support you wearing black socks with short pants.”

The government is expected to shut down in four days and House Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) has been attempting to prevent this from occurring.

Meanwhile, Trump’s vouch for a shutdown has caused serious discussions and disagreements among GOP ranks as House Speaker McCarthy works hard to avoid it while right leaning House Republicans are hoping for it in order meet certain demands they have made that Democrats disagree with.

On top of all this there is now also an ongoing political feud within the Republican Party after Trump expressed his views in favor of shutting down government operations unless his demands were met through Truth Social: “It’s time Republicans learned how to fight! Are you listening Mitch McConnell, the weakest, dumbest, and most conflicted “Leader” in U.S Senate history?”

Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL), perhaps the most prominent conservative Republican in Congress, decided he would take matters into his own hands if the federal government shuts down as expected in four days.

He sent a letter requesting that his congressional salary be withheld until legislation is passed ending the lapse of appropriations entirely.

Both Gaetz and McCarthy have exchanged open confrontations over this scenario which have only complicated things further between them and other members of Congress within their party.
