Trump Taps Former Political Prisoner For Key Role

President-elect Donald Trump has announced the nomination of former political prisoner Peter Navarro for the role of Senior Counselor for Trade and Manufacturing.

On Wednesday morning, Trump announced the nomination in a post on Truth Social, where he highlighted the necessity of promoting U.S.-based manufacturing and hiring American workers, arguing that Navarro’s role in his first administration proved that he is capable of promoting these values in his new role.

“During my First Term, few were more effective or tenacious than Peter in enforcing my two sacred rules, Buy American, Hire American,” the president-elect wrote. “He helped me renegotiate unfair Trade Deals like NAFTA and the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS), and moved every one of my Tariff and Trade actions FAST.”

Trump went on to explain that Navarro had the perfect skills for the role, noting that it would fit his knowledge, analytic skills, and media expertise.

“Peter is not just a superb, Harvard-trained Economist, he is a noted author of more than a dozen bestselling books on strategic business management and unfair Trade,” he added. “He did a superb job for the American People in my First Term. Peter will do even better as Senior Counselor to protect American Workers, and truly Make American Manufacturing Great Again.”

Trump also pointed out that Navarro had been “treated horribly by the Deep State” in the past few years — highlighting the fact that the 75-year-old had been wrongfully imprisoned for four months for refusing to cooperate with the Democrats’ corrupt January 6 Committee.

Navarro was just released from prison five months ago, and immediately went to the Republican National Convention, where he gave a fiery speech condemning the corrupt January 6 Committee and their insane demands. His remarks prompted a nearly minute-long standing ovation from the crowd.

“The January 6 committee demanded that I betray Donald John Trump to save my own skin,” Navarro said. “I refused.”

Trump supporters celebrated Navarro’s nomination on social media, with attorney Mike Davis calling Navarro “a highly competent and fierce loyalist” who will be the “tip of the spear on [Trump’s] America First trade agenda.”

“Biden unjustly put Navarro in prison; Trump is putting him back in the White House,” Davis added.

“Another great choice by President Trump. Peter Navarro is the person who will help put American manufacturing and American businesses FIRST. He’s all in on the Trump agenda,” wrote Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL).
