House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is trying to block Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar from sitting on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. However, not everyone is in favor of his plan as Republican Rep. Victoria Spartz is speaking out against McCarthy’s biases.
I have rejected the appointments of Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell for the House Intelligence Committee.
I am committed to returning the @HouseIntel Committee to one of genuine honesty and credibility that regains the trust of the American people. pic.twitter.com/ePxlbanxta

“Two wrongs do not make a right. Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi [D-Calif.] took unprecedented actions last Congress to remove Reps. Greene and Gosar from their committees without proper due process,” Spartz wrote in a statement. “Speaker McCarthy is taking unprecedented actions this Congress to deny some committee assignments to the Minority without proper due process again.”
While some have accused McCarthy of taking revenge on Democrats for previous offenses by blocking the Democratic committee choices. However, McCarthy has pointed to security concerns as his reasons for blocking Omar Swalwell on the Intelligence Committee.
Yes, Kevin McCarthy is on fire. But he’s on fire because Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, Mary Miller and the others held his feet to the fire. It’s a new Kevin McCarthy and the intrepid GOP resistance made him that way! @RepMattGaetz @laurenboebert @RepMaryMiller

“Swalwell can’t get a security clearance in the private sector. I’m not going to give him a government security clearance. Schiff has lied too many times to the American public. He should not be on Intel,” the Speaker said in an interview earlier this month.
Swalwell has faced scrutiny over his personal and professional links to an alleged Chinese spy, while Schiff, the committee’s former chairman, was a vocal proponent of the now-debunked Trump-Russia collusion hoax.
McCarthy has pledged to block California Democratic Reps. Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff from sitting on the House Intelligence Committee. He hopes to also stop Omar from sitting on the Committee. According to special rules for the Intelligence Committee, McCarthy is allowed as the speaker to halt Schiff and Swalwell’s appointments on his own, but stopping Omar will require a full House vote.
Speaker McCarthy is making good on his promise to block Reps. Lying Adam Schiff and Fang Fang Eric Swalwell from the House Intel Committee and Rep. Ilhan "The Ingrate" Omar from Foreign Affairs.

Omar has made her opinion of Israel and is clearly anti-Semitic in her comments.
There are currently 222 Republicans in Congress, with 218 forming a majority. Spartz’s refusal to support the. block on Omar in a floor vote leaves McCarthy with little room for defection.
