It looks like Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) is now walking the middle of the line with Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.).
Santos is now facing numerous federal charges and is likely to be found guilty and sent to jail.
McCarthy is allowing him to remain in his seat while the case plays out.
However, McCarthy just stated this week how Santos would be wise not to run for re-election.
We Won’t Support You
If Santos was listening closely, he should have gotten the message that the GOP will not be supporting his campaign in 2024.
When McCarthy was asked about Santos, who recently announced he would defend his seat, he stated, “No, I’m not going to support him.
“Santos has a lot going on.
“I think he has other things to focus on in his life other than running for re-election.”
I have little doubt that Santos will be found guilty and am embarrassed that the GOP has even allowed him to serve after he made up his entire resume.
What the GOP needs to do right now is identify a qualified candidate that can take on Santos in the primary.
Only this time, perhaps they should vet the candidate they support to ensure they don’t put another conman in office.
