Michael Moore: U.S. Should Be ‘Grateful’ To ‘End Up Like Detroit’

During an appearance on MSNBC, leftist filmmaker Michael Moore claimed that the American people “should be so grateful” to “end up like Detroit” — which has been consistently ranked as one of the most violent cities in the United States, while also having an unemployment rate of double the national average.

Detroit is a crime-riddled and poverty-stricken city that has not had a Republican mayor since 1962, and thus has been used as an example of the destructive nature of Democrat policies by numerous Republicans over the years — including Trump, who argued during a recent campaign stop that the rest of the U.S. would resemble Detroit if Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris wins the November election.

“I mean, the whole country is going to be like — you want to know the truth — it’ll be like Detroit… Our whole country will end up being like Detroit,” Trump said.

Democrats immediately seized on these comments by claiming that Trump was insulting the citizens of Detroit — but their assessment of his remarks is far from true, as Trump was trying to talk about the poor conditions that residents are experiencing. He has also made numerous promises to help revive Detroit.

Speaking with MSNBC’s Joy Reid on her show “The ReidOut,” Michael Moore whined about Trump’s comments and claimed that Americans “should be so grateful [if] they end up like Detroit.”

After Reid claimed that Trump was “insulting Detroit workers” with his comments, Moore responded: “Over the weekend, he told the wives of Michigan to get your fat husbands off the couch to go vote. And it’s like, He says … America is going to end up like Detroit.”

“America should be so grateful that they end up like Detroit,” he continued. “I mean, just especially the way that Detroit has come back, it is coming back absolutely great [with] things that are happening. But there’s always that tacit racism involved in statements like that. Oh, you’re going to be like Detroit.”

Moore isn’t the only Democrat to claim that it would be a good thing if America ended up like Detroit, as leftist musician Lizzo made similar comments at a Harris rally — stating that it would be good if the country became “proud” and “resilient” like Detroit.
