Mother Sends Cryptic Text…Her Dead Body Found BURNED and NAKED One Day Later

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is now speculating that the murder of an Athens mother whose burned and naked body was found earlier this month was “deliberate and personal.”

Deborrah Collier had gone missing back on September 10 after she had sent her daughter, Amanda Bearden, a mysterious text message along with thousands of dollars via Venmo.

According to police, Collier’s daughter received a message saying “they aren’t going to let me go” along with $2,000 in cash on the Venmo app just one day before she died.

On September 11, Collier’s body was discovered in a ravine in Habersham County near by a burned tarp and tote bag.

Earlier this week, surveillance video from a Family Dollar store was released showing Collier purchasing similar items.

Apparently employees claimed that the mother did not appear distressed while shopping in the store and was alone at the time.

Video footage taken from outside of the store shows Collier exit the store before getting into her van and driving south on Highway 441.

This video shows the final moments that the mother was known to be alive.

Police confirm that Collier’s daughter did receive the money but it is unclear where that money has since gone.

“Please understand that this case is very complex in nature and has a lot of questions and unknows that are not typical for a death investigation,” deputies said. “It’s going to take significantly more time than the 19 days that have passed to solve this crime.”

When a WSB-TV2 reporter attempted to visit the home of Bearden, she told them she had no comment and order them off her property.

Collier’s husband, Steve Collier, spoke with the reporter, saying that he wants the sheriff’s office to solve the case.
