SHOTS FIRED: Border Patrol Vehicle Struck As Agents Move In

At 8:45 a.m. near Fronton, TX shots rang out as the Rio Grande lapped gently against the American shore. The gunfire went largely unnoticed by the broad river, as  U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agents attempted to arrest an illegal immigrant when their vehicle was suddenly struck by incoming fire from an unknown ambusher. The agents, though they managed to avoid injury were unable to return fire at the assailants across the river. The incident is under investigation by the CBP at present and it is unknown if the agents were able to complete the arrest or if the illegal immigrant was able to escape due to the diversion.

According to Breitbart,

“The agents involved in the incident did not return gunfire, officials stated. Few details regarding the shooting incident were available at press time. The incident is under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigations.”

“The incident is being reviewed by the FBI and CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility,” a statement from the Department of Homeland Security concluded.

While the incident has gone largely unreported in the national mainstream media, it is being carried by local sources and notably pointed to by Mayra Flores, a Republican Congressional Candidate in 2022.

Shots At Border Patrol Becoming Common

As the cartels at the border, notably the Gulf Cartel (CDG) in this region have been suffering repeated setbacks due to the efforts of the Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station, shootings are becoming more commonplace. In August 2019, four cartel gunmen in Mexico fired approximately 50 rounds into a Border Patrol Airboat patrolling the American side of the river. According to Breitbart Texas’ source, “the gunmen were protecting a shipment of cocaine and an underwater pulley system used to shuttle the narcotics across the river.” In early December, the Border patrol had seized $450,000 in marijuana over the course of three days near Edinburg, TX not far from Roma where the incident took place.

In response to the increase in apprehensions, narcotic interceptions, and violent incidents at the border in the Rio Grande City area, Gov. Greg Abbott debuted the Texas-built border wall to be installed in absence of meaningful action from the Biden-Harris regime.

Gov. Abbott told the Press,

“The State of Texas has taken comprehensive action to secure our southern border and address the border crisis while President Biden has sat idly by,” said Governor Abbott. “In June, I promised Texans that we would step up in the federal government’s absence and build our own border wall. We have wasted no time in the six months since that promise was made, and I am proud to announce that construction of the Texas border wall is now underway. Today not only represents the first phase of the Texas border wall, but it also serves as a major milestone in our efforts to combat illegal immigration, stop the smuggling of drugs and people, and keep our communities safe.”

“Our state is facing a border crisis like none we’ve ever seen before. Washington continues to ignore it even as Texans’ lives are endangered, properties damaged, and record levels of harmful drugs pour into our communities,” added GLO Commissioner George P. Bush. “Texas will not stand idly by watching this surge of illegal border activity harm our neighborhoods and economy. If Washington won’t act, Texas will. We will not stop until this wall is built and our border is secure. Fighting for border security requires a team effort, and I thank Governor Abbott, the state legislature, and our other partner agencies for their support of this cause.”
