Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
Psalm 23:4
Life is hard in a lost and broken world. Sin causes death, disease, mental health issues, deprivation, and perversion. All things God had no intention for humanity
What is Your Valley?
We come upon our valleys periodically through life. They can be a job that seems to be sucking out your soul, the loss of a loved one, a health scare, or a battle with addiction. We all have our struggles, our dark places.
Sometimes our valleys take us so low that we feel we will never rise again. Or the path has become so dark we only feel lost and alone. We struggle with doubt and fear.
The Psalms are full of David facing these struggles. He had dark valleys, and battles he faced throughout his life but he never forgot where his true safety, light, peace, and refuge came from.
It doesn’t always feel like it but God is always there. He shares in our tears and pain, our frustration and depression. He weeps as we do. His hands spread out to us welcoming us to the comfort that He alone can give.
He is ready to fill the void we feel within ourselves. To surround us with a peace that goes beyond understanding. To go before us battling the enemy.
All He asks in return is for us, who are lost and weary, to rest in Him; To seek Him. He will do the rest.
He is knocking at the door of your heart even as you read these words. Will you let Him in?
Prayer
O Lord, sometimes I feel so lost and alone. I hurt and yearn for more. Take. away my heart of stone lord that keeps me cold and empty replaced it with a tender heart of flesh with your love engraved upon its walls. Give me a hunger to be near you, to thirst for your word, and to seek you in my dark valleys. Lord, lead me to the green pastures of peace, ease my mind with your promises, help me know the God who loves me. O Lord thank you for the sacrifice of your Son Jesus. Thank you for allowing Him to open the door so that I may know you. IN Jesus Powerful and Holy name I pray. Amen.
