The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District recently held its first board meeting following the tragedy at Robb Elementary School.

It appears that due to confusion, disorder, and incorrect information, law enforcement was heavily delayed in stopping the gunman that committed the brutal school shooting.

Investigators reported that the gunman was inside the school building for over an hour meanwhile law enforcement officers stood idly outside waiting. The circumstances of the incident sees to be caused by the event commander, school district police chief Pete Arredondo, treating the shooting like a barricaded-person situation.

With that being said, however, the investigation remains ongoing, and therefore details of exactly what went wrong are still hazy.

In their first meeting since the tragic event, Uvalde school authorities have discussed whether to fire to suspend any of the district employees.

Many parents anticipated the board to address UCISD police chief Pete Arredondo’s handling of the incident, however no action was taken against him or any other employee.

Many of the decisions made by the board were decided on behind closed doors, therefore it’s unclear whether trustees discussed the police chief’s status or response during their meeting.

“We want answers to where the security is going to take place,” Angela Turner, a Uvalde parent who lost her niece in the shooting, told CNN.

“This was all a joke. I’m so disappointed in our school district.”

There has been overwhelming outrage over the police response to the mass shooting, after it was revealed that Arredondo held police back from entering the building for over an hour while the gunman killed over 21 people, the majority being children.

Meanwhile, panicked children dialed 911 for assistance from inside the school, as police held frantic parents back outside the school.

Surprisingly, Arredondo, who was elected to a seat on the council earlier this year, was secretly inducted into office last week.

The board is scheduled to meet again on June 20.
